For breakfast, the traditional recommendation has always been the Ardmore Tea Room on Quinpool Rd., although I am not a fan. Cora's, just off Spring Garden, does an excellent breakfast. For me, the best sandwiches in town come from the Italian Gourmet on Doyle St. just off Spring Garden (I have never had a tuna sandwich as good as theirs). Great soup too. If you snoop around on www.edining.ca you should be able to come up with a few more. Have fun!

I'll second the Cora's recommendation -- it's a chain in Quebec and the Maritimes and the food is very, very good. The French toast (pain perdu) is terrific.

My vote would be for you to walk down Quinpool Rd. and follow your nose... you'll find something there!

I agree with the rec for Italian Gourmet. Excellent cheeses (sample the crotonese)! For breakfast, try the North End Diner on Gottingen St. Shady neighbourhood, but wonderful food - where else can you get a delicious lobster cake, eggs, bacon, homefries and toast for only $6.95? But by far, my favourite place is Pete's Frootique. Both locations have small eat-in self-serve sections.

I don't recommend the breakfast buffet at the Casino, which is a grease-fest.
