Need Caterer for Summer Vancouver Wedding

  • s
  • 6

We're based in L.A. but planning a wedding in Vancouver this August. The reception will be in a private home (with a proper kitchen for staging), for about 100 guests. We're leaning towards Chinese food, so we'd probably need to find a swell Chinese restaurant that would be willing to do a job off-site, but are open to other-cuisine suggestions. Bakery suggestions also welcomed. The bride and groom will be in and out of Vancouver this summer and can go taste-testing themselves - I'm basically looking for places to send them for research.
(What the hell, throw in florist, valet, music, etc. referrals too, if you've got'em...)
Thanks!

  1. I don't know if they cater but try Wild Rice on Pender Street. I think their small plates would be perfect for a wedding.

    1. The Bon Ton Pastry and Confectionery

This cake is to die for. I had it years ago when I lived out on the coast and I still dream about it. I am going out this summer and I will definately stop at Bon Ton. It is quite expensive, but so worth it.

"The Diplomat cake, 3 layers of puff pastry, with sponge cake, butter cream and rum, is so fabulous you'll want to get a large take-out for later.

I second the vote for the Bon Ton. Their desserts are always fantastic and the diplomat cake is my favourite as well. It is a fairly traditional type of bakery though so if you're looking for something a little more modern, I'd also suggest True Confections (www.trueconfections.ca).

I got a Diplomat Cake for my birthday yesterday...absolutely divine!!!!

True Confections does fabulous traditional and non traditional wedding cakes...also extremely good.

If you wanted something really different, you could do a whole tiered thing with Bon Ton petit fours...that would be incredible!

I'll diverge from the status quo here and suggest Ganache Patisserie in Yaletown for your wedding cake. Chef Peter Fong is a dessert genius.
