Cipriano's Ristorante & Pizzeria - Main Street Vancouver
Has anybody been there lately, Years ago the portions were hugh and Frank would sing on the weekends. Havn't been there for there bread and pasta for years. Can anybody tell me if the food and atmosphere has changed that much. Havn't seen any reviews or comments anywhere lately.

I think its good for something hearty and casual. The place seems to be a bit of a has been, but I think it still has a certain old time atmostphere. The service is good and usually fast. The food here is certainly nothing spectacular, but can be satisfying anyways, especially for families or for when you just want something unpretentious and filling. The servings are still huge too. I think their pizza's are great if you are craving a thick crust, heavy cheesy pizza. Nothing thin crust here, but the sauce is really deep in flavour and the pizza dough is the best. It's sort of a cross between pizza dough and a biscuit. I wouldn't bother with the pasta personally. Its very average and nothing you couldn't put together yourself at home. Go for the pizza alone.

Well, I haven't been there in about 3 or 4 years but I remember deciding that time that it would be my last. I think they have loyal fans, but I found the sauces very heavy and not that spectacular. As well, I walk by there all the time and rarely find it busy if that's any indicator...

Last I heard (on this site about 2 years ago) a visitor from the USA was refused service and told "all the tables are booked".
The place was half empty @ the time but the man and his wife were treated like dirt.›2 Replies-

Why don't people understand that if you have reservations coming in (to fill up a room) within the next 15 mins/half hour, you can't accomodate walk-ins. Are you insinuating that they were lied to? Just because a table is empty, doesn't mean it's not reserved. -

I would really like to hear Cipriano's side to such a tale. I've eaten there many times, there's all sorts of people from fancy dressers to ones that looked almost like street people and all ethnicity and gender preferences and never has anyone been turned away. Sounds to me like there may have been some nastiness exchanged.
