I had one of the best meals in a long time at Guu with Otokomae (in Gas Town). This Guu is a little quieter and the wait for a table isn't as long as the other 2 locations, but the food was OUTSTANDING. See link below for the menu. A must to try is the Yaki Onigiri (Chazuke, which is a grilled rice ball placed in a green tea broth!!! All I can say is GO (before this place becomes as busy as the other 2 locations)

Kitanoya Guu (Gastown) Izakaya:

Another nomination for a great Great Unknown. I go about twice a month, as much for the colourful sissy drinks as for the food. But the food is wonderful! I love the atmosphere... the staff are terrific (and the bartenders are Otomokae, indeed:-). Watch out for the ebullient greeting... if you aren't quite ready for it, you might think you're being attacked. I've had almost half of the regular menus selections... all good- different, but good. The specials have been grand as well.
