We're taking a driving trip soon around the North Cascades National Park, Lake Chelan, Methow Valley area. Does anyone know of good places to eat up there?

I believe the area north of Chelan: Methow, Brewster and on up to Oroville has no fine dining to speak of. There are two places in Chelan: 1) Campbells, which is good but not very impressive unless you live in the isolated area and it's the only "nice" place within 50 miles; and 2) the Apple Cafe (or the Apple Inn or Apple Something), which has character but not much more than old-fashioned greasy faire. The area is dependent on apple farming, and it's been hit by a devastating crunch of low apple prices, an export market for apples that disappeared, and oversupply. Lots of people just scraping to get by.

I believe there is a restaurant named Horan House in Wenatchee that is outstanding but I've never been there.

Thanks, Fritz. This is confirming my suspicion that food will not be a main focus of this trip! If we find any good places I'll post recommendations when we get back.

The following places were suggested to me: Sun Mountain Lodge (Methow Valley), Fiddlehead Bistro (Twisp), Amy's Manor (Pateros), & The Breadline Cafe (Omak/Okanogan?). Please share a report.

Thanks! I'd heard of Sun River, also that it's fancy and expensive, but not of the others. I'll check 'em out.

Fiddlehead has a primo menu, and is a perfect little find. the owner couldn't be a nicer guy, either.
can't speak for the others, though the Lodge menu is impressive.
