i stopped in there a couple of weeks ago and picked up a coffee, as picnics contains the official loo for Meinhardts now.
Deli is very different from the grocery store, all white walls, large communal picnic table down the centre. There were a few interesting looking salads and such behind the deli counter, but i didn't sample. They looked good, but frankly i would have taken then out rather than eaten them at the deli which had a bit of a food fair feel; the people working behind the counter were very friendly, though. Coffee was not bad, but not great.

Coffee okay - but the hot chocolate is to die for. Incredibly rich, almost bittersweet chocolate taste, with almost frozen vanilla whipped cream on top - post-skating hot chocolate all grown up. At $6 for a cup it's a treat, but man, the last one I had was over a month ago and I can still taste it. The food's not bad - some of the sandwiches (as in the cambozola and beef) were very good. Juices excellent. Not cheap, but definitely several cuts above Bread Garden, even if the room does look a little like the inside of a Q-tip box. Good selection of newspapers.
