hello fellow chowhounds! i will be in vancouver for an evening next week and i'm looking for some good pub food in a fun, but safe environment in the downtown/west end area. i am considering the following places:

-the cambie
-yaletown brewing co
-the fox and firkin
-tatlows

what are your thoughts on list? any recommendations? i have looked through a thread a little further down and i read that someone thought that yaletown brewing co. is a little overrated.

thanks in advance and i will repay by offering a review when i get back!

Yes, Yaletown Brew Co is very highly overrated -- I live in the neighborhood and my friends & I can't figure out why people keep going there.

They definitely are NOT "pub food" -- more like "boring-menu-to-go-with-OK-microbrew" food.

I agree with xando head. As for pub food downtown - although, from all accounts, the fox & firkin has a great fetish night, I've been underwhelmed by the food. The Lennox isn't bad (Robson & Granville) - but you'd do better to go over to Granville Island or head to Gastown & go to Steamworks. See earlier threads.

Don't go to the Fox and Firkin, the food is uninspiring to say the least. Maybe try Steamworks? Sorry, I can't think of any place particularly inspiring.

i agree with the lennox - good atmosphere and everytime i have been there the food has been pretty good. the cambie is a dive BUT if you are short on cash it is the perfect place and it is very lively too. adios CHUNG!!
