Heading up to Vancouver on Thursday, staying in the Delta Pinnacle. Any good sushi joints in the area? I'm not talking about Tojo, just good honest little places. BTW, anyone fond (or not) of Gyoza King?

Gyoza King is good but even better is Guu with Garlic a block away on Robson. Also a new Izakaya is opening across the street from Gyoza King.

Enjoy!

Just wondering Ironfrank. Is it business that brings you to Vancouver on a regular basis or is it the food?

I go for pleasure. That pleasure happens to revolve around a lot of great eating. You just can't get Dim Sum of Vancouver quality in New York. Great Sushi can be had in NY albeit at a much higher price.

It happens to be my favorite place that isn't New York and we have made many close friends there from seeing local bands.

Since this isn't chow related, feel free to email me if you'd like to chat about punk, garage, or indie rock bands and their horrible eating habits.

thanks,

I totally agree with Frank...Guu with Garlic is awesome. The new haunt that opened across from Gyoza King is called Hapa Izakaya and its awesome....izakaya but high-end decor...kinda like what an izakaya restaurant may look in NYC. I however am hooked on izakaya forever....if anyone suggests eating out...izakaya is definitely my first choice before any other kind of cuisine.
