Montreal type bagels in Toronto
Are there any bagel shops in Toronto that make bagels that taste somewhat like those to be found in Montreal? I know that those found at St Viateur or Fairmount are the best of the best and would be difficult to replicate anywhere. Nevertheless, from my experience I have that the worst Montreal bagels are usually better than the best I have found in Toronto. From my albeit limited experience, Toronto bagels taste like bagel shaped bread.

Try St. Urbain Bagels. I think there are three locations. In St. Lawrence Market. On Eglinton W., and very north Bathurst St. (north of Steeles).

My Market Bakery on Baldwin in Kensington sells them, too. They're probably available elsewhere, as well.

On Queen St. E, north side, near Parliament I saw a little cafe opening (in a former design type shop) that was going to be getting bagels delivered from Fairmount - sorry I can't remember the name of the place, it should be open by now.
St. Urbain's is best place locally for Montreal style bagels.

The place is called Casa Superstein. It's on the north side of Queen, just west of Parliament. Their hours are 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday to Saturday. I haven't been there, but I walked past it last night and they do indeed have a sign in their window saying they serve Fairmount bagels.

Can anyone tell me the nutrional value of a St Urbain plain bagel? In partictular, calories, fat grams and fibre content if any. I've been told they are high in fat but I just don't believe that is true.
Thanks!

Although this is a non-commercial board, I do commend you for declaring your name and not trying to post under a pseudonym.
Having tried your bagels from Bruno's, I much prefer their other supplier Gryfe's.

Hello? Has anyone heard of Kettleman's?
You want a Montreal-type bagel? While walking along the Danforth one glorious morning, I came across Kettleman's. They are at 542 Danforth (Danforth and Carlaw). They make their own bagels, right in the front . And the choices! They have every imaginable flavour - from the traditionalist palate to the more liberal one. My favourite is the dill and cheddar. You can either stand at the window bar and take in the view or you can have a seat in the back - even the decor is Montreal-style. The owner is a really sweet guy.
They sell lox, sandwiches, tons of shmears and they even cater! After eating one of their bagels, who needs to go to Montreal?
