If you want to eat near the distillery district, there are some good restaurants in Cabbagetown, on Queen Street E. and further south on Front Street... Have been to the Broiler Room as well as the Pure Spirits Oyster Bar (the one I believe the original post referred to). The Broiler Room is passable fare but not very original. Pure Spirits is just very utilitarian - went there for a birthday once and even though the restaurant was half-full found the service to be lacking in prescence while the food was average at best. Very much enjoyed both Eggplant and Toba which are on the King East area. Note that Eggplant is in a slightly higher price range. My friend and I had dinner there last Saturday and we polished off 50 oysters between the two of us. We sampled the world and those were our favourites (this time around).
