The Only Cafe on Danforth makes an excellent huevos rancheros, surrounded by Salsa, sour cream, excellent home made guacamole, tortilla chips and two perfectly done eggs. Excellent.

But you know, I have never seen huevos rancheros here like I've had in the states, my favourite being at the Hilton in San Jose. What made that special was the excellent chorizo that came with the eggs and the fresh home made corn tortillas. WOuld love to find something similar in Toronto...

Problem is the chorizo. I've never seen Mexican-style chorizo on sale in TO. It's like Italian in consistency but spiced VERY differently than the Portuguese variant or the Spanish types loaded with smoked paprika--all very nice but not what we're after.

My Mexican friends are always saying the same thing.

I buy chorizo from Segovia in Kensington and they are starting to do the Mexican chorizo a little better by grinding it finer and using more authentic spice.

Verdict at our last dinner party was it getting better but not quite there.
