Still looking for a good place to go for a special anniversary dinner. Here's the problem: do I go to a restaurant that it totally new to me/us, and chance not really liking it, or do we go to an old fav.?
I've been wanting to try Amuse-Bouche, but should we do that some other day? Any suggestions?

I highly recommend AMUSE-BOUCHE. My husband & I love it! Ask for one of the tables in the window, if you go.

Is the place hip/trendy, or quiet and subdued? We'd prefer something a bit more urbane!

I'd say it's a mix - quiet yet hip. It's quite small so it's less formal & more cosy than other restaurants I've been to with the same caliber of food. The chef's, who are also the owners (I believe, but may be wrong), are young and have been known to make the rounds themselves to chat with guests. You also walk by the kitchen on the way to the facilites so you can easily initiate conversation with the chefs if you have questions / comments etc.

The food was awsome & they have a great wine selection (some that are in the cellar and avaialbe by asking only since they aren't on the wine list).

I'd recommend it for a special anniversary dinner. As stated before, I'd suggest a window table (more intimate than a table in the centre of the room). Also a tad chillier since you're surrounded by windows.

Thanks for the info - we booked a table! It's always a bit of a gamble to go to a new place on a special night. We did that a couple of years ago - we to a "romantic" place for our anniversary - and we were the youngest couple in the room by about 25 years. LOL!
