i-cook buffet at Steeles and Warden

This resto has changed its style from a buffet to a sit-down AYCE dim sum at lunch. You order from the menu, go up and get your drinks and cold sides(such as pickled radish, etc.) and the dishes are delivered steaming hot to your table in the usual bamboo containers. They were IMO as tasty as most other dim sums I've eaten at. If you're still hungry after your initial orders, you can keep on ordering. All this including drink for $8.99!!!I was overwhelmed (and about to burst). For dinner they have hot pot($15-18)with heating elements in the tables which I haven't tried yet, but am looking forward to.

I finally checked this place out for the dim sum. It is not ACYE, you order off a menu. The price for Mon-Fri is $1.60 each and Sat, Sun & Holidays is $1.80 each. When I went, the line-up was not too bad (10 mins wait), but I did go after 1pm. The dim sum is a good size and tasty, but if it's busy, you may have to wait a bit for the food to arrive. The menu is not extensive, but it offers the basics, dessert and specialty items. At least you will get what you want instead of waiting for it to come around on the carts. They add 10% tip on your total bill. Worth a second visit.

Do they charge for tea? Is the tea any good?

I tried out "Szechwan Legend" at Midland and FInch recently, and they arent too bad. The lineup was horrible on Labour day tho =)... Tea is free, decent quality leaves. 1.80 m-f and 2.00 weekends.

It's not AYCE dim sum any more, just a la carte dim sum from a menu (no carts). But supposed to be good and cheap (this from a friend. When I went to try it the line up was too long so we went elsewhere.)

What are the line ups like on weekends? I assume they don't take reservations for dim sum? Does anyone know.

I am interested in trying this place out. Is the dimsum still AYCE? If so, how much is it on the weekends? Would you suggest this over going to a regular order off the cart restaurant?

As well, how much is the ACYE hotpot during the week and weekends? Thank you!

Perhaps they've changed their pricing and the level of service at this place. In the two times that I have been here, the food has been excellent. However, they never seem to bring our last order of food after we've been sitting for 20 minutes.

The wait staff is efficient but the kitchen doesn't seem to be getting it as far as timing is concerned.

Does anyone know if you can make reservations for I Cook Buffet? Also, does anyone have their phone number? I can't seem to find it on the yellow pages...THX!
