Call to Eat in Seattl

  • p

Does anyone know if Middle Eastern/Persian/Afghani restaurants in Seattle are suffering like they are in New York?

Maybe we could get some recommendations going for local places.

  1. I pass by Kabul (Afgan food) on 45th St. every evening on my way home from work, and it has been pretty crowded over the last week (to the extent that sometimes there's a line!) There is also a review in the Stranger this week of Kabul--it's favorable.

I was relieved. :) THat's Wallingford for you!

I'd love to hear other recommendations people have.

I heard on the radio today (770) the owner of Kabul is very touched by the outpouring of friendship and people stopping by his restaurant since the Sept. 11 disaster. He said that he plans to donate 1 day's proceeds from the restaurant to the Red Cross Fund. I've never had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant yet.

        Leslie (and those reading along!)--

we're trying to steer away from this "call to eat" as a political issue, because it was alienating some members of our community who disagreed with that idea (my fault, for allowing political issues to come to the fore here in the first place...we usually try to steer clear of political stuff)

You are very welcome to ask or report about middle eastern and other Moslem-owned restaurants (or any other restaurants!), but I'd ask that we keep the talk strictly chowish, out of consideration for the fact that these are edgy times, people have differing views and emotions, and we want to keep this site a friendly refuge. Man, I could sure use one, and I bet you could, too!

Thanks...good idea, and I completely understand. This is a great site!

Funny -- you don't LOOK chowish!

      2. Kabul is actually busier after the attacks.
