Went to Vittorio's at Yonge and Davisville last night with my wife and another couple. Best night we've had in a restaurant in a long while. We found out from our waiter that the resto had just been bought by the original owner's son and one of the waiters who have been there for many many years.

Highly recommend the spot for a romantic evenign with someone special or a fun evening with friends. Great food (best Eggplant Parm I've ever had) the service was also 100%, you feel like you're having dinner in someone's home and they are a welcoming host.

Is this the same Vittorios that I once knew as Vittorio's Osteria? I was there once many, many years ago... but recently have wondered if they are still around. I have a friend who is looking for a really good serving of Fettucine Alfredo... So would Vittorios be a good choice?

Vittorio Osteria preceeded Vittorio's and was a bit further north on Yonge (north of Eg). It had the same original owner, Vittorio Masi. Masi died suddenly a couple of years ago and I believe Vittorio's may be run now by his son Jason.

I'm not sure if they have fettucini Alfredo on the current menu, but their Gnochi with gorgonzola and jack daniels sauce is to die for.

I walked by today and there is a sign in the window of Vittorio's that says "now managed by Cico".

I've never heard of Cico but just thought I'd pass it on.

You must know Cico! Maybe not his name, but you know his face! Cico worked with Vittorio for years and, under Vittorio's superior tutelage and guidance learned everything from the importance of identifying and utilizing fresh ingredients to the pairing of wines with the signature dishes served, to this day, on the delicious and familiar menu. Vittorio's legacy of warmly greeting patrons and friends at the door and ensuring superb service and wonderful food lives on through Cico and Vittorio's son, Jason. Going there now, is like going home - making you feel warm, welcome and well fed! Believe me, Vittorio's spirit lives on!

Based on your comments, I am willing to give them another try.

I was there a couple of years ago, and it was pretty bad. The food was just below being OK (I think that I did have the gorganzola gnocchi and I was not impressed), the wait staff were almost non-existent. The only way I knew they were there was that they were all collected by the bar and talking amongst themselves, even though I was trying to call our waiter over without have to resort to shouting.

All in all, most of the evening was spent waiting. Waiting a long time for the food, waiting a long time for the waiter, waiting a long time for them to process my credit card.

But I am a fan of this area (for reasons other than food) so I will perservere and give it another shot.
