I'm planning on going to the Wales vs. Canada rugby match which is happening this weekend a York University. (Keele and Steeles)

There will be ten of us altogether taking TTC up to the event and we're hoping we can find somewhere for beers and food near the stadium. I'm not too sure that I can be picky, is there anything up there at all?

Dream setting would be a place with good pub food and a patio that has to be open Saturday afternoons.

Any suggestions?

I can't help you find the pub you want--there's not much open at York on Saturdays and it is a fair walk or an extra TTC fare from the Stadium to anything off campus.

Do note that the Cardiff RFC side is playing Ontario before the main event at 11:30. The usual suspects beer and food will be available on the grounds.

See you there.

I feared that may have been the case. No doubt the Argos made the right decision to stay away from this area. What do York students do?

we bring our own food from home, curse the university for not providing enough microwaves around campus, and sometimes settle for Mr. Sub.

The dinners and pita sandwiches at Falafel Hut in York Lanes are decent, probably the best choice out of what's at the U. Stay away from their falafels though.

It's a wasteland up there. My son goes to York and whenever I come into town in the hopes of taking him out for dinner I'm totally flummoxed. We've gone to a few places along Steeles, but nothing I swear that would be worth mentioning. There is, however, a not bad Vietnamese place on Steeles west of Jane. It's in a strip mall on the north side of Steeles that also contains a store called Grace Textiles or something like that. It has a patio and we've eaten there a few times. You can't really walk, though. You could take the Steeles bus - about 5 minutes tops. At Dufferin and Steeles there are several chain places including a quite odious Italian all-you-can-eat buffet called Vinnie Zucchini. Also there's a Friendly Greek along there and a Mandarin (or something) buffet. Good luck. I hate that area.

At the north east corner of Steeles and Keele there used to be a Kelsey's or something in the plaza. Not sure if it is still there or if it has been replaced with something else.

It's still there. Forgot all about it. Right next to an LCBO. Not crazy about Kelseys in general, but it sounds like it could work in this particular pinch.
