Hey everyone
please tell me where you go for good soul food. I love Kingfish, I've done catfish corner, but let's get a little further off the beaten path. And please tell me who has the best (fill in the blanks)---grits, fried chicken, etc.
thanks!

Here's an "off the beaten path" place for you: OK Corral II, on the W side of Greenwood and 87th. Collard greens, hushpuppies, ribs, beans/rice, catfish (haven't tried). A complete and unpretentious hole in the wall: basically one guy in the kitchen dishing it out as quickly as he can, which isn't always that quickly if you want catfish from the pressure cooker. If you eat on the premises, you'll get grape kool-aid to drink....

I won't swear up and down that it's the best, but it is good.

Ezell's has the best fried chicken I've had around here. Their sides are OK but the chicken is the best !
The only one I know of is across the street from Franklin HS on 23rd (I think) and Cherry. Check it out.

Ezells is on 23rd Avenue across from Garfield High School. There is one in Renton and, I think, one in the U District. Also noteworthy are their rolls.
