I eat lunch daily with non-hounds. They are impossible to convince to go anywhere other than a food court. We usually end up at Scotia Plaza (does anyone know anything worth while there?).

I like going to St. Lawence Market but I can only get them to go there once every couple of weeks. I also like Ackee Tree in the Eatons Centre (north food court).

So, I would like to hear hound recommendations of good food courts and good food court food on the PATH. Please detail the Court, Counter and Menu recommendations.

Alternatively, I could handle suggestions of quick lunch counters near food courts that would allow me to buy a good meal and dine with my co-workers.

My exact location is King & Toronto if that helps.

Thanks in advance,
Monte.

I usually go to the little coffee shop run by a very nice Korean family on Toronto street beside the Rosewater for break fast ( good bagels and great coffee)and snacks. They do however offer some reasonably priced lunches for take out, soups, sandwiches and noodles. I usually check in the morning when I am getting breakfast what lunch is.F.Y.I a new asian inspired restaurant modeled after Wagamama in London is to open on front street where Brack audio used to reside.

check out the new food court in TD Centre. They have a new salad restaurant that just opened - called Lettuce Eatery. Be prepared for the massive lines, though...GO EARLY!

They have also put in a Hero Certified burger place.. As with the Lettuce Eatery, the lines are quite large, so arriving early is a good idea.

It's been 3 1/2 years since I worked in that area, so some places may no longer exist. But places I liked and frequented regularly were:

- Cafeteria in the Royal York Hotel. It is (or was?) in the long concourse on the west side, off of York Street. They have great salads and sandwiches, especially smoked chicken and Rubens.

In First Canadian Place concourse level:
- There is a very good vegetarian takeout, at the front of a health food store. Can't remember the name, but their mexican bake (chile+cheese) is very good.

- There's also Ho Shim, a Korean-Japanese restaurant that has a takeout counter. Good and reasonably priced.

***
In TD concourse level, there was an Indian takeout. Don't know if it's still there, but it was quite good.

***
In ScotiaBank concourse level, the only place I ever went to was the Chinese place (can't remember the name) which usually has long lineups for the chicken+rice combo.

Finally, don't forget Movenpick Marche in BCE Place. A great and fun place, not just for lunch.

Best thing is to EXPLORE all around & through the Path and find your own favourites!

There was postings of recommended PATH food last year. Click on the link to go to it.

My recommendations are Naturally Yours in Commerce Court (love their mexican bean bake and vegan souvlaki) and Giovanni's Market & Deli in Scotia Plaza (delicious, fresh, homemade-tasting Italian food buffet style - take as much as you want but they weigh your container to determine price).

Under 55 University (NE corner at Wellington) is Saute. They have pretty good pan fried pasta. You pick the pasta, sauce & add-ins (veg chicken etc) combo and they cook it over an unbelievably hot surface. Probably too far from King and Toronto, but for anyone near the University side it's something I'd recommend trying. The problem is that everything else in that food court is a miss (Wendy's, Food Court Japanese and Pan-Asian).

Try Pumpernickel's under the TD tower. The chef at this branch gets quite creative every once in a while. I was thrilled to find chicken tagine on the menu one day. She was so happy that I recognized the dish that she heaped a generous serving on my plate as a reward. Her soups are always homemade and excellent rather than the sodium specials served everywhere else.

Ooh La La is another spot for tasty, healthy food (homemade soups and good salad bar) but it might be a little too far for you.

Lettuce is a new place that opened recently in the newly renovated TD Food Emporium. Fairly expensive but the food is fresh and takes good. Worth a try. Be warned though...the line up at peak lunch hour is usually ridiculous

Best value in the path - Green Curry in Simcoe Place (Workers Safety and Insurance Board) - across from Toronto Convention Centre.

Between Wellington & Front St. just west of Simcoe (west of University)

You get a mountain of tasty food for $4. Every day's special meal includes free pop or soup. There's always a huge line, but it moves quickly and if you get there just before noon, it's fine.
