Ouch! This thread is getting nasty. Anyway, back to your original question. I did eat at Lago just after it opened.

It's been some time but I do remember that: appetizers were good-breaded calamari (nice and tender, light batter), minestrone soup (lovely broth, balanced acidity), mussels (not rubbery, nice broth to dip bread in).

The main courses were all pasta, and all of us enjoyed them. I had the gnocchi and found the dumplings fluffy, vs doughy or gluey.

The service was good, not exceptional, but the staff was very friendly and the owner circulated several times to check on us (he's the larger of the 3 in the episode).

I think the restaurant will do really well during the summer when you can open the windows along lakeshore.

As to the other part of the thread, I live in Etobicoke, and enjoy the city very much, but Mississauga is a very vibrant, multi-cultural city (with a better waterfront). Although tough to get around without a car, it is worth the time to explore in a culinary adventure..this board is for expanding people's options, not limiting them because of pre-set geographical boundaries.
