Visiting Toronto and wondering about places serving cask-conditioned real (UK bitter style preferred) ales dispensed via beer engine and served at cellar temp.

Only interested in authentic stuff that might pass muster if dispensed in an english pub. (Or at least not cause public unrest & rioting.)

Are there any places you could recommend please?

Seconded. Ask them what's good in the cask on the day.

Blue Meany's closed, I hear, so walk down to the B&A.

The Blue Meaney on Yonge, a couple of blocks south of Eglinton, west side is another place to check out. I went there once and they had a Scotch and Irish Brewing (Ottawa area brewer) Dogbolter on cask. Delicious. I've been back since a number of times.

I also agree with the recommendation for the Granite. Their Extra Bitter Special (a dry hopped bitter) and their IPA are among the best beers in Canada.

The only cask beers available in Toronto that I tend to stay away from are the Wellington Arkell Bitter and County Ale. These beers used to be good, but lately, I've found them to be very inconsistent.

Same discussion is taking place on www.bartowel.com, a Toronto beer website. See discussion under "Forums" for a pretty comprehensive list providing by Toronto's leading beer geeks, me among them.
