Patillo's NY Bistro

Did anyone ever even hear of Patillo's NY Bistro in Fremont? It served something called a Piatto, which was an East Indian Flatbread (Naan-like)coated with homemade red sauce and covered with whole milk mozzarella, then topped with just about anything you wanted. Well, it (the bistro)was sold about 6 months ago. I was just curious to see if anyone even knew...

I live on Queen Anne and frequent Fremont quite a bit and NO- I never heard of Patillo's NY Bistro.
I have to agree with ms. wasabi-I question your message post.

I've never even heard of it. You said it was in Fremont? Where? You mentioned it was sold----so is someone else re-opening something in the space? You've got me curious too.

hello, sonja and all others who have graced this section called Patillo's NY Bistro. This bistro was actually mine for a year and a half. I catered mainly to the newly planted high-tech lunchers of Fremont. When they started falling off the face of the earth, so did my numbers. We will see what the future holds for a new joint. Maybe the next time, I will market it to a larger, more diverse crowd. I just wanted to see if anyone even heard of it...

I came to this board so I could get impartial restaurant tips...doesn't shameless promotion of your own establishment sorta defeat that purpose?

Is shameless promoting is what you think? If you read what I wrote, you would have noted that I sold the bistro in question. So to say that I was promoting it is somewhat comical. I was just looking for some valued opinons from the chowhound participants who frequent eating establishments in the Seattle area. But hey, thanks for the reply...

I don't know that I'd call it shameless promoting, but I would call it disingenuous to just solicit opinions about a certain restaurant as you did in your original post (linked below) without disclosing that you used to own it. From my point of view it would have been less objectionable if you had disclosed your connection up front in this first post, instead of waiting for responses.

The original post should have had a disclaimer of restaurant ownership. I thought the first post was a bit sneaky, especially when we find later that it came from the owner. However, the restaurant no longer exists, so it's a moot point.

                  Folks. Folks.

Nobody on planet earth takes a more hard-line attitude toward shills than I do, and I thought Darren's postings were fine, in light of the fact that he no longer owns this place! You can't shill for what you don't run.

Darren, what rubbed people the wrong way is that your first posting posed as just plain folks, when you weren't. We get con-men and vultures who do this sort of thing (we always find out, nuke their postings and prohibit any further mention of their places), and you LOOKED a lot like them. I understand that you just wanted to wistfully see if anyone noticed your efforts in your former life, but it was kind of a bad choice to start the discussion the way you did. Though you certainly explained your affiliation quite quickly thereafter.

I apologize for the overly harsh reaction you've received, but, to explain, this community is a hypeless, honest oasis in a random, commercial cyberuniverse, and we're all used to defending vigorously against the onslaught threatening to compromise the integrity of this place. You are not part of that onslaught, but you unwittingly used their style and M.O.

So, what are your next plans?

                  ciao

You guys have a legit point, being that in my first post I did not speak of ownership, but I have to be honest and admit that this wasn't done inadvertently. I met a number of folks who dined in my bistro and always told me, face to face, that my product was astounding, yet my revenue continued to slip. I was going for blind criticisms through the medium of chowhound and if I offended anyone in doing so, I apologize. I must say in my own defense, that if the bistro were still under my ownership I would not have solicited business in this fashion. It is nice knowing that there is a place to get REAL food information on the web without (what you guys previously thought) the annoying solicitations for joints with mediocre food.
