Just bumping this thread in case anyone has more up-to-date options. I, too, am craving these from my years in Ottawa.

Folia Grill, which receives much justified love from this board.

I second Folia Grill! I miss the fried zucchini of my youth, Hurley's long skinny sticks. Folia's are much thicker, but equally tasty.

Third. The taste is infinitely better than the sum of the parts. Eat them fresh from of the fryer when they've cooled just past the point of not scalding the inside of your mouth. Yum.

Thanks, peppermint pate. Birthday's coming up, and it's added to the list of treats!!

Wow, I didn't realize this was an Ottawa specialty. I just realized I was missing them when you mentioned it.

There was a place in Ottawa called Hurley's Roadhouse that made awesome zucchini sticks (were talking some 15 years ago). Any idea if there are still there?

No, Hurley's is long gone. I do remember those zucchini sticks though, they were really tasty.

of a completely different variety than what I think you're asking about but still fried zucchini . . .

Yummy BBQ on Yonge, east side, south of Wellesley surved zucchini rounds dipped in egg and fried. They're quite good.

you're thinking of the breaded / battered zuchini sticks, yes?
