The Rivoli usually has a pretty good menu.

i find that the Rivoli has ok food and really bad wait staff..(Remember reading somewhere a few years back that the Rivoli is known for the worst waiters in Toronto). Queen Mother is also only OK, in my opinion they are coasting quite a bit on their reputation and the prices are inching up.

My pic for under $10 would be HO SU. Lots of choice and they have 4 daily lunch specials that are cheap and come with a lot of food (soup, small dishes and main). I go there all the time when in the area and I want a quick sit down lunch.
Another option if you like Thai is THAI CHILI (across from HMV/Caban) they have lunch specials as well and pretty good food.
      Cheers!

Walk about two short blocks west on Queen (north side)to the 'Queen Mother'....great ambiance, great food, ....after all these years.

I used to enjoy meals at Queen Mother but I think it has gone downhill lately. The mediocre Pad thai cost around $11.95 and had a total of 3 medium shrimp. To compare, I had recently Pad Thai at the Whistling Oyster, roughly the same price and also mediocre, but at least it was chock full of medium shrimp (over 15)

      2. Heard good things about the dining room in Osgoode hall. Maybe others can elaborate.
