We need advice on where to find the best bargains on quality happy-hour eats, and tap beer. Thanks.

    Cassis offers a $24, three-course prix-fixe menu before 7 pm. It's a steal!

Ponti features half-priced appetizers and drinks from 4 to 6 pm and after 10 pm. A couple of appetizers (salmon quesadilas, portabello mushrooms, etc) makes a meal.

McCormick's Fish House on Fourth Avenue offers an extensive menu of items under $2.00 during happy hour and late nights.

I haven't been there for a year at least, but Nikko in the Westin Hotel used to offer a great happy hour with lots of free food (decent sushi!) and good drink prices. Does anyone know if they still do?

Thanks for suggesting Nikko. We'll let you know what we think. In the same genre, try the happy hour at Ohana, with $2.75 sake, and several $2 sushi offerings. Even better is the Dragonfish happy hour, with reduced drink prices and excellent deals on creative sushi, and other neo-Asian treats from $2 to $3.50.

Surprise! The other day, I found myself at Salty's having a $5 happy hour burger that was really quite good and HUGE. Try to find a place with a full menu and a full-sized bacon cheeseburger for $5. nice.

As for a cheeseburger at happy hour, nothing I've found comes close to McCormick & Schmick. They offer a half pound steak house quality burger with fries for $1.95.
