Lai Wah Heen - lunch or dinner?
- peppermint pate
I'm finally going to get around to trying this highly recommended restaurant. For a first time experience, would you suggest I go for dim sum at lunch or would dinner be the better, or at least equally good, option? Thanks.
Lai Wah Heen is our favorite place to go for dim sum. While I've never eaten dinner there, every trip we make to Toronto, business &/or pleasure, a dim sum lunch is mandatory for us. Make reservations, they get full quickly & on Sundays they have seatings.
I've been eating at Lai Wah Heen for many years, both lunch and dinner.
Their dim sum is top notch. Probably best quality in Toronto. But outrageously expensive. A much better value would be Rol San on Spadina north of Dundas. 1/3 Lai Wah Heen's price and not as fancy.
Dinner is only OK at Lai and again very expensive. For a much better value, try Lee Gardens just north of Rol San on Spadina. It is rated by Toronto Star as the best Chinese restaurant and I agree.
