My favorite doughnuts are to be found at the Delite Bakery (3211 Beacon Avenue S. 325-0643) on top of Beacon Hill. Get there early, as they sell out quick. They make up for in quality what they lack in doughnut-variety: they have maple iced (yum), chocolate iced (not as great), and plain glazed raised (my favorite) in traditional rounds and bars. They also have pretty good brownies, and a host of other great baked goods.

I haven't been there in years, but there used to be a bakery in Black Diamond which was my favorite for cake doughnuts. Don't know if it's the same one, but here's a place to start: Black Diamond Bakery 32805 Railroad Ave. Black Diamond WA 98010 (360)886-2741

Not technically a doughnut, but this topic made me think of it, Larsen's in Crown Hill has a scrumptious apple dumpling. You can also find their products at QFC bakeries, but here's their actual stats: Larsen's Danish Bakery 8000 24th NW (206)782-8285

I have to admit, while I ate KKs for the first time during the 4 months I was in North Carolina, I wasn't that thrilled with 'em. I didn't understand all the buzz - I found them too greasy & squishy.
I miss all the Dunkin Donuts that have deserted Seattle (or better yet, Spudnuts - whatever happened to them?)

There really is nothing like a hot-from-the-fryer Krispy Kreme original glazed donut. I fell in love with them in NYC one summer -- it got to the point where I wouldn't order dessert at a restaurant if there was a Krispy Kreme within a few blocks. They often give out free samples at new stores so keep your eye out. It will definitely be my new stop on the way home from a hike.

We are having a child care conference in March 2003 and would like the contact person for Issaquah Krisy Kreme. Our agency is a non profit organization and we rely on donations. The exposure you would have is 250 capacity. We would like to know if you would be able to donate assortment of donuts for our continental breakfast. Thanks so much, and I will be looking forward hearing from you.
I will send complete information on this conference along with a donation form.
