Good places to go in TO when on Atkins (no/low carb) diet

John Jul 28, 2004 02:13 PM

What restaurants can Hounds recommend which would cater cheerfully, without a lot of fuss and with a reasonable menu selection to someone following a strict Atkins no-carb/low-carb diet ?

I know about steakhouses, obviously. Any other thoughts ?

Thanks !

I thought that there was a new place in the annex called 350 F which caters to all diets like Atkins, South Beach, low carb.

    Perhaps someone else knows more.

Yea, I posted a little review a while ago. It's nice if you don't want to have to do any thinking while ordering, this is the place to go... it tags everything on the menu to specific diets, and they include a nutritional breakdown, too for those who are on their own customized I-only-eat-0.415g-of-saturated-fat-per-day diets.

There are loads of options, really, if you accept the fact that you may not be able to order everything on the restaurant's menu. Places with Middle Eastern or Meditteranean cuisine (Jerusalem on Eglinton and most places on the Danforth, for example) can do all kinds of grilled meats and various salads, dips, etc. Just skip the rice, bread and taters. You could go to Starfish and Rodney's and order all kinds of fish and seafood. The only places I'd avoid are total pizza/pasta places as your choices there will be quite limited. Happy (no carb) chowing.
