italian cold cuts?

  • m

I'm making a dish that requires several kinds of italian cured meats, i.e. prosciutto, soppressata, salami and was wondering if anyone knows a place that sells really good versions of these things. Otherwise I'll probably just head to Pusateri's, but I would be willing to make a longer trek in search of excellent meats.

  1. i dunno if pusatari's would be the best place for this venture.....i mean they sell GREAT stuff...but perhaps one of the speciality italian stores would be better?

Even a highland farms or fortino's in woodbridge or that 'Grande Cheese outlet' place might be better in this case.

I second Grande Cheese. There's a location on Orfus Rd. or you can drive north to Vaughn or Woodbridge. It's a typical Italian market frequented by Italians.

grande cheese - yes, there is one on yonge, north of major mackenzie.

    2. You probably don't want to travel all the way to Niagara-on-the-Lake, but Mario Pingue makes the very best cured meats in the country. His proscuitto is outstanding, and he also does others that are superb. You can find his products at:

      De Luca's Cheesemarket & Deli

2017 Niagara Stone Road RR 3,
      Niagara On The Lake, ON
      L0S 1J0

Give them a call; they might ship!

      1. How about Commisso Brothers? Are they still around? Sorry, I don't have the address but I think it's north-west of Eglington and Avenue...
