Good Chinatown BBQ shops

I'm not even asking for the best, just good honest takeout BBQ duck and pork. The last order I got from King's Noodle had far too many pieces that were all bone and no meat -- I guess I should have been flattered that they gave me the duck's head, but it wasn't much help in my noodle dish.

I am always happy with the "Garden" at Dundas & Bay south side. While technically outside of the core chinatown they get a lot of chinese clientale from Bay street getting takeout so they stay as authentic as the core.

Best memories are going there at 3 or 4 in the morning after getting out of a bar and chowing down on a table full of chinese food.. I also love their Chili Chicken and the crab & sweetcorn soup.

I 2nd the 3am feeding at Garden. The soya chicken and roast duck on noodle soup is my fave and it's consistently good there for me.

Best BBQ in GTA is Sam Woo's IMO, but that's up in Scarborough - Bamburgh Circle & Warden (1 light south of Steeles).

There used to be a Sam Woo on Dundas, a couple of blocks east of Spadina. It was my absolute favourite. I never got served a gristly yucky piece of pork, like has happened in certain other places whose names I would share if I could remember. Unfortunately the Dundas Sam Woo disappeared a couple of years ago.

My fave Chinese BBQ shop is still Hong Fatt. They're 1 traffic light east of Dundas/Spadina on the south east corner. Hong Fatt was one of the first Chinese BBQ shops in Toronto back in the 70's when my parents first came to Canada. Eventhough BBQ is available everywhere here in Mississauga, I still go back to Chinatown once in a while just for their BBQ pork. It's made nice and moist, sweet while not overly fatty but not too lean either. There used to be another location above the Eon bakery at Dundas/Bay but that was closed about 15 years ago. Definately good eating!

Hong Fatt is at 443 Dundas St W (corner of Dundas/Huron 1 light east of Spadina).

Here's a short NOW writeup on their ribs from a few years back.
