Fantasy Restaurant in Scarborough and Magic Wok in Markham

Since I don't have a car I usually stay downtown for food. A cousin was visiting with a car and being the hounds that we are, we tried Fantasy in Scarborough. We're Chinese, 7 to our party including 2 elderly. At Fantasy, the standout dish was the taro and Chinese Sausage Malay, which meant in coconut milk. Never had the sausage or taro in a creamy sauce, and it was just fantastic. Also pretty good were the duck tongue with chives, the squid and kidney pot, and steamed frog, and the BC crab with ginger and scallion. Average were the Taiwan tofu ( with peanuts and little fish), pork belly with snap peas, eggs with oyster, and another tofu dish. With sodas and stuff the bill was a shade under $100.
After we finished this, our friend was raving about a smoked chicken that we should try next time we come to Toronto. So we said what the heck, and rolled over to the Magic Wok in Markham. We went there and the smoked chicken called the Grandfather chicken was indeed very good. It had a deep smoky flavor, with a lightly sweet bit of sauce on top. It was a little dry, but it was late ( around 10), I imagine it's moister at prime time. We had a dozen of the giant oysters, and 3 of the large scallops, as well as snow pea shoots with Royal (?) mushrooms. These mushrooms sliced this looked like abalone and with a delicate almost nutty flavor that went well with the shoots. We also started with a nice tureen of watercress soup, in which we requested extra bones and meat, which we got in spades, so got a bit of marrow also.
We finished off with some bubble tea somewhere.
