Anybody know where to buy maple sugar?

I can't recall ever seeing it in a store but Chowhounds seem to know where to find everything food related.

Time for a little shameless promotion of Niagara.

It's a bit of a drive, but on a nice weekend in the spring, why not? White Meadows Farms on Effingham Street in North Pelham has maple sugar for $15 a pound. See the link below. If you follow the map on their "Directions" page, you will pass right by Hernder Estates and Henry of Pelham. Cave Springs, Stoney Ridge, Vineland Estates, Harbour Estates, Malivoire and others are all an easy detour on your way back to the Queen Elizabeth Way. Just turn west on Regional Rd. 81 and follow the signs.

So, on Saturday, it will take you about 75 minutes to drive to White Meadows Farms, where at this time of year you can enjoy pancakes, sausages, baked beans, and real maple syrup before you buy your maple sugar to take home. On your way home, you can stop at one or several wineries, and fill the car up with some of Niagara's other superb products. You'll be home in plenty of time to cook something amazing with your maple sugar (I'd probably go for pork), and enjoy a bottle of whatever else you picked up.

That's just perfect. I'm supposed to go to St. Catharines at the end of the month.

Malivoire is my favourite winery to visit.

Couldn't ask for a more serendipitious combination. Thanks a million, Gourmando!!

Agree with you on the pork, a nice maple mustard glaze is a favourite. Good with salmon, too.

Ooh...salmon. If you go to Epicurious.com, and type in either "maple pork" or "maple salmon", you'll get several delicious ideas. I'm thinking cedar-planked salmon with maple glaze, and Malivoire Gamay. Mmmm!

I have to go home and eat now.

St. Lawrence Market, Saturday morning, at a stall just outside the south entrance of the farmers' market building (north side of Front St.). Try the maple butter as well -- great on toast.
